On my second experience with the Basic group I can say
that my class went much better than the first one as students cooperated more
when I asked them to. This time I bought an activity called “Categories” as
warm up, it helped students to review previous vocabulary. Because in this
activity you say a category of something for example, Fruits, so students start
saying names of fruits, and when one student does not say a fruit the Leader
changes the category. And the one who didn’t say a fruit has to seat, and you
can continue with other categories. After that, I explained Wh-questions with
frequency adverbs; students did not have any problem to understand how to make
questions as they had been studying questions with the teacher before.
I just can say that to bring fun activities to the
classroom encourage students to participate. So, I will continue doing the same
so that everyone can participate more in the classroom. We know that every
group is different so we have to focus on the needs all students have to make
their learning more meaningful. And as Basic students I know some of them are
still afraid of participating but if the teacher brings a positive attitude and
create a good environment, students for sure will be willing to do their best.

ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that you had a better experience than the last time. I guess that when we are teaching a determine group of students, we can get to know them better, and that's how we plan the different activities, according to their necessities of course.
I liked the warm up you did, and I bet I worked pretty nice because this group is very communicative.

ReplyDeleteI really like the warm up activity you did, it was very interesting. And regarding with what you said about basic students, we must find a way to make them participate in order that they can practice more the language. Sometimes, it is kind of difficult because as you said they are afraid to participate, but we can bring them interesting activities so that they can lose the fear to speak and participate during the class.

ReplyDeleteWell I liked your class. You had a nice experience and it is good because it leads you to be an excellent teacher. The warm up was very nice. Even though students are shy to participate sometimes, they enjoy these kind of games because it is a new way for them to have fun in classes. Keep doing the same and improve! :D Cheers.

To try to apply some funny activities is the best way to teach, as you said :) sometimes ss don't participate maybe because we don't have the type of activities they like....and remember that not all the ss like the same type of activities....so, we can not please everyone at the same time :( but it is nice that they worked and cooperated with you :)
